The Golden Probes Will Be Returning This Fall! #GoldenProbes2018
We are bringing The Golden Probes back and it’s gonna be even bigger and more glamorous!
In 2014, Lady Parts Justice launched V To Shining V, a fall event, right before the midterm election that encouraged people all across the U.S. to throw house parties, dance parties and comedy shows, with the purpose of informing folks about state and federal politicians running for office, who have committed to destroying reproductive rights. THEN GETTING THEM OUT TO VOTE! Then came the 2016 general election, and all hell broke loose, so we decided to change up the format by presenting to the world, the politicians who pose the biggest threats to reproductive rights during our First Annual Golden Probes Awards, live streamed from New York City. We wanted to go big, and what better way to highlight politicians devoted to ending abortion access than by “honoring” their outstanding achievements in sexism and anti-choice extremism with a big awards show! LPJ put our hilarious spin on all your favorite awards tropes; musical performances, dance numbers, red carpet gaffes complete with so many of your favorite comedians and pro-choice heroes presenting our distinguished nominees
It was the most glamorous call to action evah and because it was so successful, The Golden Probe Awards will be returning in 2018.
With more than 22,000 people watching across the country, the Probes had no fewer than 80 watch parties happening in 30 states from Alaska to New Jersey! With downloadable DIGITAL PARTY KITS featuring miniature red carpets, Eunice P. Justice paper dolls, Probes Bingo, and cocktail recipes like Old Fashioned But Pro Choice & Consensual Sex on the Beach, people from all over the country partied right along with the livestream. See the best photos from across the country right here!
You can check out all of the nominees and winners from 2016 here.
And awesome organizations like the Gateway Women’s Access Fund in St. Louis, Whole Women’s Health in Austin, Planned Parenthood Votes CO in Denver, and POWER House in Montgomery, AL threw public watch parties with red carpets, drinks, and even awards of their own! In Memphis, the organizations Healthy & Free TN, CHOICES, and Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region had a Lady Parts Justice TACO FEST with bands, comedians, and tacos (duh). Public watch parties also happened in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Portland.
See y’all on the red carpet!
